So jealous. My pigs are on the Free School Lunch Program, ie- they get the hay bale droppings from the feed store.
It certainly doesn't look like that.

Looks good! Is that the timothy?
Etta Mae, sometimes mine get the "hay bale droppings" from my hay loft. They actually like it better!

Cute pictures, Para.
OK, here's my only complaint about KM's hay.
It's so soft that the pigs lay in it for hours, munching away, resulting in very wet, pee-ed upon hay which I have to throw away!
(Well, not really a complaint. I guess it's a small price to pay for pig happiness.)

Yeah, Becky, I have the same thing here! That's because you have the bluegrass.
The timothy has more stems and is not quite as fluffy. I've decided to make hay racks, I think.
Para, glad your piggies like it.
Clarasmom, you got the bluegrass. I think your piggies will love it!

KM,
Could I order half and half, or do you prefer to stick to one kind per order?

| How do you go about ordering the fresh timothy hay? My girls have had nothing other than the store bought since day 1. I am in central Illinois and I can't even find a store around here that sells Dandelion greens as I wouldlike my girls to try it to see if they like it. Also, is there a minimum size you have to order and what is the cost?

| KM, are you cheaper than Oxbow? I end up paying about 50 bucks for 50 lbs.

| I just got my first shipment of kleenmama's hay a couple of days ago and my piggies love it. I had been getting mine from American Pet Diner and kleenmama's hay looks so much better than theirs. She is also great to deal with. Very personable e-mails!

| My pigs have wonderful orchard grass from Karen. I pile it into the hay racks and they sleep in it, burrow in it, pull it out and make a wonderful mess. I don't mind them peeing it it because it is so cheap.

| Totally envious, since I have no chance of getting some of KM's hay. Al least I have a feed store near me that has pretty nice Timmy.

| Shipping from Kleenmama to me is more than Oxbow, but people are saying they've been disappointed in Oxbow lately. The hay around here is just awful. I driving up today, a 2 hr trip, to check out a new source. We'll see how that goes.

I've seen a few complaints about Oxbow, but I recently got a 50 lb. shipment of their timothy, and it's just fine. Late last summer, I could tell that quality had declined. It was perhaps the last of the old stuff, before the new harvest came in?
Anyone else share this perception--the bigger the quantity you order from Oxbow, the better the quality? When I used to dabble in the smaller bags, I don't think it was as good as the big sizes.
BUT I'm sure it's not as good as kleenmama's soon-to-be-legendary bluegrass; KM, can you ship some o' that to the East Coast?

| KM, I haven't gotten my bluegrass yet. I was hoping for today (it may come yet) or maybe by Monday. I think I might order the hay rack from the Ferret store. Hopefully, we will have their new c&c home ready for occupation tonight.
