I'm really into giving my guinea pigs things from our garden and have been giving them lots of grass of various different varieties, dandelions and strawberry leaves - which they LOVE!-- we also have a lot of redcurrant leaves would these be ok for the guinea pigs? I have read lots of sites and no where says they are poisonous but I just wanted to ask other owners. When we were kids our mum used to give our guinea pigs carnations which they adored ,do any of you feed yours carnation stalks?

The three links on this page from the Merck Veterinary Manual have the most complete listing of toxic plants that I've seen on the web.

Look those over and see if you find anything.

I would be careful to keep pesticides and other chemicals off whatever you feed them. I know comercial carnations would be covered in all kinds of nasty stuff.

Carnations are poisonous, according to this page and several others:

Even if your animals have suffered no ill effects to date, I absolutely wouldn't feed them.

Pampered Piggies website has a list of foraging weeds and things to feed your piggy. There's also a list of dangerous ones at the bottom.

If you're not sure what to look for you can also order seeds from them and grow your own.
