Petco Coolest Pet Pad Contest

Petco (yeah, I know) is currently holding a contest Coolest Pet Pad Contest

The important thing about this contest is that it allows users to submit pictures of their pet's "pad" and a short description. I propose that GuineaLynx users flood this contest with pictures of our C&C cages. They may inspire people who visit the site to build their own cages.

Mention that the C&Cs are easier to build, that pigs have more space to run around, are healthier and are friendlier and easy to pet, and that the humane society recommends cages that are at least 7.5 feet.

I know it's Petco, but maybe this is a way to turn their contest against them? And I'm sure some posters here, like Momo, have great cages that might even win the prize.

Yeah, but do you think they will really post them? They don't sell any of the materials.

They are posting other people's home made hamster cages. I think as long as you do not directly insult pet store cages, and enough people post heir home made cages, they will post them. It is worth a shot!

Has anybody sent an entry already? I wanted to send mine too but wanted to make sure this is fine with respect to our advocacy.

i just did it. At the end of the form, it asks you to pick some items from their site that help make it the coolest pad. None of my stuff came from PetCo, its the most expensive of the 3 major pet stores closest to me.
Anyway, I selected a water bottle, a food bowl, some ferret toys and a cozy bed. I tried to find Oxbow hay and pellets to list, but they don't sell Oxbow on their site. I wasn't about to suggest Kaytee
This is what I put in my description of the coolest pad.
"Guinea Pigs are very active pets that must have plenty of room for zoomies (running around at full speed), and must always have plenty of hay and pellets.
I built a 6 x2.5 ft cage for my 2 males. It is large enough for them to run around, and has plenty of Hiding places. It also as a 2nd floor for their hay and food and water.
There is a covered tunnel they like to hide in, and their fluffy beds are under the 2nd level. They have various wooden toys hanging on the strips that they like to play in."

Last edit. It did say that it would be posted within 72 hours pending review.

LOL Pending review? I guess they knew there are some people that doesn't like these stores so they have to watch out for those.. And I couldn't post anyway, since I don't have stuffs from them and nothing can be seen on my cage that might have came from them :p

Pending review is probably so folks can't post up their pornography.
It didn't say anything in the rules about stuff having to be shown that came from their store.

I don't have anything in my cage from them either. That's why I selected some generic items.
I did NOT mention that the fleece was from JOAnn, the cubes from Bed Bath& Beyond and Target, the Coroplast from my best friend, and the food from PetSupplies Plus. :)

I picked a pigloo, a cuddle cup, and carefresh. They also have those chubes, although people might not know to throw out the stuffing inside.

They're going to get a flood of C&C cages and wonder what's up :)

Hopefully, it will inspire them to get with the times. If more people submit, it will look less like C&Cs are some unique, epic pad and more like they're standard--the way the Humane Society of America and ever major guinea pig rescue in the US says they are.

We just have to make sure not to directly insult Petco when we submit, and I think we'll be okay.

I mean, people are always asking what the best toy they can get for their guinea pig is but the best toy, hands down, is a C&C cage.
