Suffering pig, itching. Help!

I don't have enough money to take her to the vet, I think my pig has mites. she's constantly itching, her hair falls out and doesn't like to be touched and bites me if I try. She doesn't show any indication of having a fungal infection, no external lesions or localized irritations. Has anyone had success curing mites using a Ivermectin kit not from the vet? One I can buy online? Or do they only work in PREVENTING mite infestation?

Ivermectin is the treatment of choice for mites & can be purchased online, but you need to be very cautious treating on your own.

Spot on Ivermectin can be infective in mild cases , but when you weigh up the cost , could well be better getting course of injections .

You say no to fungal , but you could try Vetcect shampoo it has good anti-fungal, as well as moderate anti parasitic properties

Thanks guys, I already have an anti-fungal shampoo I use on her monthly. She loves the hot water so much cause it offers her relief from her itching.

Might be wise to watch out for self mutilation!!, if you see any blood, or inflammation on the scratch sights , then a vet and Jabs, would possibly be you best option ,

In the moderate to advanced cases of some parasites (mange mites ), topical (spot on meds ) with not touch the problem and the after-care and subsequent vet bills could turn out to be a real problem , and could take weeks , often much longer to fix a self mutilated pig .
