Well, we've got to start somewhere. I'll try to help momof911kids set up the forums. There were some great ideas on the other board.

Anything you'd like to see here?

This just randomly popped into my head.

Elaborating on DaCourt's idea -

"what about having a feature where kids can be spotlighted for supporting the standards of care we are highlighting?"

- and some other suggestions about trivia and games, maybe you could do some sort of weekly/bi-weekly quiz about piggy care and such? And the member(s) with the highest scores could be spotlighted, or receive the "golden lettuce" or other veggie viewable in their profiles.

Bekah says she would like a fun section, like our general chat, where they could post funny pictures or talk about things going on in their lives. My concern would be about them getting too personal. If we monitor it properly, we could still keep them protected.

Is this board viewable by non-members? Will it be? Or maybe only parts of it, as with GL?

It might be nice to have an art section, or maybe just a thread, where they members could post their artistic endeavours.

Yes, the board is viewable by non-members.

I was hoping to keep things focused on guinea pigs. One of the reasons the main board is so big is because half the posts are non-guinea pig related! I was hoping to control the size so the added cpu would not affect the main board.

This is something staff can talk about.

I activated your daughter so she can now post.

I think if we had a general chat area, we would have to be hyper vigilant about reading all the posts. I think it might be too much work.

I do think a guinea pig art or even a general pet animal art section of the forum would be great. Lots of kids draw and write stories about their pets and giving them a way to share that would be nice.

I was also wondering why we don't have anything under diet and behaviour yet? Maybe a general guide to what a healthy guinea pig looks and acts like would be a good start. I was thinking maybe even a photo of a healthy pig with each part labeled on what to look for. I don't know how well that might work.

Oh, I like the idea of an "other pets" forum. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that people have some of the coolest pets!

That's a good idea.

My sister would love to show off her 2 dogs and 1 cat. Since she doesn't have any guinea pigs!

Hello, I am Knuffigirl, my Mum is Malilla on the other GL. ;)

Can we have some place where we can introduce ourselves (okay, with this sentence Mummy helped...) ?

Would a forum to introduce you and your pets work?

Not sure what we would call it though. Any ideas?

Me and My Pet
Introducing Me and My Pet

Introductions

We could include some text to explain it.

I think Introductions is good and to the point.

Yay! I got the quick reply working!! Let's see if it uses imbedded tags like this.

Anyway, you would not BELIEVE how long it took me to add this simple "5 minute" hack to the board! Let's say it makes me feel really old..

Well, it will make posting here easier. I was happy to find a nice "Quick Reply" icon made. You can click on it to open and close the reply box.

I was just thinking about this a few days ago, what about a "Rainbow Bridge" or some other area or something that addresses the loss of a beloved pet. I think something like that could be really good for kids whose pets are often their first best friends and for some kids, their only friends.

Sounds like a good idea to me too.

Not everyone will know what "Rainbow Bridge" is - and that it is an imaginary concept. Maybe we need to call it something else?

How about "Remembering Your Guinea Pig"?

Any other suggestions?

How about "Remembering those who left us"?

Or, "Guinea pigs we've loved and lost".

We could use that as the explanation but need something short for the name of the forum. But your post makes me think "Remembering" or "Remembrances" might work.

Not Forgotten
Remembered
Guinea Pigs Remembered
