Hi, I was wondering if anybody in Los Angeles knew a farmer that gives hay out for a cheaper price than the store and is a big amount.I would like a huge bag of hay to buy but I would like it cheap. If anybody recommends somebody please tell me.

I buy American Pet Diner hay from http://www.drsfostersmith.com. It's fairly cheap and AMAZING hay - always green and fresh smelling. You can buy several 5 lb boxes at once and shipping is cheap or even free if you have a large order or during some special sales (like right now). I'm also in LA, so I would have the same shipping costs as you.

Small Pet Select is also excellent hay, and is cheaper than American Pet Diner. I buy large (40-50 pound) boxes of it. It's less than half the cost per pound of what you buy in small bags at a store.

Can you find a feed/farm store? Many will sell you bags of hay that's left from the bales they stock.

Sometimes you can make an arrangement with a stable to get a bale when they've purchased hay for the horses. I ordered our box from KMS Hayloft. https://www.kmshayloft.com/ I buy a lot at once so it evens out per pound.
