Revisiting the neuter idea

So, I have found out there is a vet opening a practice purely for exotics. He is highly spoken of by a few people that I mentioned him to (one is another vet). So, I am going to take Gabe in for a consult to again consider neutering him. My regular vet really didn't want to do it, and they were CRAZY highly priced for the procedure. This vet is so much more reasonable and I think will be much more open to it.

Gabe spends most of his day rattling the cage bars between him and Luke, rumblestrutting and just acting agitated. So, I think a neuter may help him settle a bit. At least I hope so.

There is always the hope it will make a difference in behavior but generally we have advised it won't help much if at all.

You would have the benefit that if in the future, a sow needed a companion, he would be suitable. Let us know what kind of procedure he does, and good luck!!

I’m surprised it wouldn’t help settle his aggression at least a little. Way back before I knew better, I had an unneutered male dog. And he was difficult to say the least. Since then, obviously all of the dogs we’ve had have been spayed or neutered. And we never had the aggression issues that we had with Nicolas. I know with rats, it does help when they are aggressive either to humans or other rats. I will see when I take him in for the initial visit and talk to the vet.

How many ways are there to do a neuter? I am not sure what you mean.
