Buttercup
It took a lot longer than usual with the goings on with the family, but I finally got the tribute to Buttercup framed and hung up. It required some minor rearranging on the Wall of Fame. Her final resting place is complete.
The haiku reads:
"She came to us unexpectedly.
Our lives were changed for the better.
We didn't know she was bringing 4 little surprises with her.
She expanded our herd with her 2 amazing sons and 2 beautiful daughters.
The Rainbow Bridge is brighter with her beauty."
Muffin is still using their toys, which is why they're not up there. There's just enough room for her name to go on the urn and her ashes to go inside. Hopefully it'll be a very long time for that.

Today was Ruffles day. I can't believe it's already been 2 years since she passed. As with all of my piggies, whether they are still with us or have crossed the rainbow bridge, I think about her often. She was a brave girl. She never hid or ran when we picked her up. Having been joined by her mother, she is frolicking around and enjoying the perfect fields of endless grass and sunshine. We remember her with fondness today and always. Rest well baby girl until we are all together again.
Check out my little Princess, Muffin! No shyness in this baby girl. It's all gone now. She doesn't even run away when I pick her up. She is fixing to get her treat, so she runs from one side of the cage to the other stopping to nibble on the door on each side. Once she gets her treat she takes it into her hut to eat it. Such a sweet and beautiful girl. She is thriving so far. Still small but very healthy and vibrant.
She doesn't bite it hard like the boys do. She barely nibbles on it, but I still don't like it.
Happy Birthday to Muffin! She is 3 years old today! What a beautiful little princess she is. She acts the part very well too. She is 2 and a half pounds, which is pretty good. Being the only girl in the herd doesn't seem to bother her at all. She still goes over to the side of her cage where Dean is once in awhile, but other than that, she's happy being the only girl. There's a lot of wheat grass from the greenhouse, so she's going to get a nice handful for her birthday.
I can't mention birthday for Muffin and her brothers without Ruffles. Although she's gone over the rainbow bridge, she is and always will be part of our herd. We love her every bit as much as the day she was born and we miss her as much as the day she passed. May she find the newest addition to the rainbow bridge, Wilber and show him the ropes up there!

July 18th was the first anniversary of our Buttercup passing on. I didn't get around to posting on that day. Still, I think of her every day and I honor her by taking the best care of her children. They're hardly children anymore as Jack is nearly 3 and a half pounds, Kahlua is just under 3 lbs and Muffin, while not as large as her brothers is quite the proper lady. I can just see her looking down with pride over her babies. She was a great Mom and companion. I miss her cuddles. Rest well sweet mama piggie! You left this earth, but you will never leave our thoughts.
I've been going through some things with my health and between that and the new piggie, buddy, I put off posting her annual tribute until it hit me today. There was a couple of weeks following surgery on my abdomen to remove a large cyst where there was little more I could do other than sit around the house. You don't realize how much you use your core for just about everything until you get it cut open and stitched back up. While I was healing, I got a bad case of allergies to boot. It was a miserable time and my family had to do a lot to help take care of the pets,, including the piggies. I'm better now and glad that's all behind me. Now I just need to get my motivation back and get busy with the chores that have been piling up.

The bond with a pet can be so strong, they never leave our hearts and thoughts. I'm glad she was part of your life.
Glad to hear you are recovering. It stinks to be limited in what you can do - especially for someone like you who has so many plans and from what I can see, great success carrying them out.

Muffin is humming right along. Long gone are the days of her being that scared little girl who runs and hides. I can pick her up anywhere and anytime and she is fine with it. She's at ease in the pen. When it's feeding time, she's right there nibbling and waiting for me to give her food. Once she gets it, she goes to her hut to eat it. She doesn't do that out of fear, but out of habit. She prefers to eat from the hut whether it's hay, treats, pellets or veggies. She'll move it to where the food is. It's really very cute. What a little princess.
