Hope all goes well at the vet. I'm sure Gilligan is watching over his Skipper. That's what little buddies are for!

Vet visit went well. Skipper's top incisor is good. The bottom one was a tad long so they trimmed it down just a little. His right side molars are good. The left side is slightly misaligned. They're wearing down but there's just enough misalignment to cause a small, thin spike to be left next to his tongue. It broke off during the exam and the molar is better now. He's eating better right off the bat so that's good. Otherwise he's a healthy senior guinea pig.

That’s good news. Hopefully he’ll start to wear his teeth down a little better if he’s eating well.

He didn't eat much of his veggies after the vet visit. He only nibbled the carrots and was still not able to grab it. Some of that could be tenderness from having his mouth wedged open to get his incisor ground down. What he was eating is more hay and pellets. His morning veggies this morning are all gone and he's still eating the hay and pellets.

I expected him to not want to eat much right after that visit. It was a bit rough having a tongue depressor wedged into your mouth to hold it open while a vet grinds down your teeth. Skipper handled it like a champ, but it was a bit traumatic. He's over it and getting back to his normal eating habits.

I was looking back at Skipper's chronicles and, correct me if I'm wrong, but Skipper is 6 as of this month. I adopted him on May 24th, 2020 and according to the Humane Society's records, he was one year and one month old. That places his birthday sometime around the end of April, 2019. He's just barely 6. I'll have to let Dr. Hardy know in case it has a bearing on whether he can proceed with the procedure to lance, flush and drain the abscess. Probably not since it's a minor operation that doesn't involve any organs. It's a subconscious abscess, so the incisions are very small and only in his skin.

The other thing this means is that I can add another guinea pig to my 6 years old club. Assuming that both vets were correct about BJ and Zachary Binks, along with them, Mr. Bubbles and Dean, Skipper makes 5. The rest of them, other than little Ruffles were between 3 and 5 years old.

Yes I have had a few reach 7, Jessie reached 8. 1 or 2 reached 6 but like you most reached 3-5 except for Choloe, Flash, Lightning, Jet and little Jersey. All of who were 2 years old or younger. Hoping all goes well at the vet!

How cute. They can get into the most uncomfortable positions. Tickle little tootsie.

Who knew guinea pigs could fold in so many different positions, and then stretch out again.
